Exercise At Your Desk
67Sitting still at a computer screen for hours on end is not good for fitness. For office workers, for this physical inactivity is inevitable - you can't workout and type at the same time!
We all know exercise is good for our health and well-being, but finding time to maintain a regular routine can be tricky with juggling long office hours then the demands of family life.
Here are some practical videos to help bring simple physical exercise into even the busiest of days. The first workout only lasts for one minute, the second for fifteen minutes, easily enabling even the most time-pressed person to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Finding Time for Exercise!
Busy work schedules often mean that people think they have nowhere like enough time for physical exercise. And by the time work is done, the daily commute is over and dinner's in the oven, enough often really is enough. The couch calls, and loudly.
However, there is a way to fit in some easy and quick workouts right at your office desk.
You don't need to change into sports wear, and you don't necessarily need special equipment. If the phone rings, you can pause the workout to answer it easily.
And if you think your colleagues might give you side-ways looks, then why not start a lunch-time office workout club? This could look good on your staff record, too, as it demonstrates initiative and team spirit.
These desk workouts are great for anyone who spends hour upon hour before their computer screens as they write their future bestselling novel or update Facebook (ahem! - she says, looking ever-so innocent....).
If you're new to exercise, check with your doctor first.
Then why not give it a try? You've got nothing to lose - except a few unwanted pounds.
No Time? It Only Takes a Minute!
The video below demonstrates a one-minute workout. Kick off your shoes to begin, so you can properly flex your feet and calf muscles.
No special equipment is needed. Just sit upright in an ordinary office or dining chair.
When turning to the side, don't strain or fling yourself around. Movements should be controlled always.
Anyone who has trouble with blood pressure is advised to raise only one arm at a time above the head.
One Minute Workout!
Lunch Hour? Give 15 Minutes to Your Health!
The fifteen-minute workout routine shown in the video below could easily be slotted in at the end of a morning shift, before going to lunch.
If you're using partition walls like in the video, do make sure they're stable enough to easily take your weight before copying the exercises. If they're not, use a more solid wall. And if your work colleagues look puzzled, solve this by starting a team activity. Point out to your boss that exercise boosts mental alertness, immunity to illness (reduced staff sickness) and when done as a group can promote team bonding.

Hi :)
I'm a terror for sitting at the computer and forgetting to exercise.
Moving one's muscles, whilst sitting at one's desk, seems like a very good idea! :)
