Wirral Egg Run
70Wirral Egg Run
The annual Egg Run attracts many thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the North-West of Britain and further afield. The aim of the convoy is to deliver Easter Eggs to hospitalised children and also to raise money for children's charities.
The convoy takes a pre-arranged route from New Brighton through Wirral's coastal towns and villages to Clatterbridge Hospital.
People line the route to cheer on the bikers, some bringing more Easter Eggs to hand to the passing bikers who will carry them on to the hospital. Others hand cash donations to the official stewards, while others just come along just to enjoy the spectacle of this enormous stream of bikes roaring through the usually-sedate Wirral roads.
Every kind of motorbike imaginable can be seen here, from small mopeds and scooters to giant Harleys, to Lambrettas covered in multiple mirrors to chunky quad bikes and tricycles, from classic collectors' models to speedway racers.
Amongst the convoy are family groups, couples, youngsters, senior citizens, middle-aged ladies...and also Batman and Superman, who I saw riding side by side, waving to the crowd!
Yes, let's not forget the fun costumes! Many of the Egg Run's participants dress for the occasion, as can be seen from the photographs below, which were all taken on Sunday, March 28th, 2010.
